Series 60 Application Development

This course is a perfect entry into Series 60 development. The course is pitched at developers starting in Series 60 who understand the basics, but need to speed up now to create a real world application including UI, graphics, forms, view and dialogs.

Topics addressed include windows and controls, key and pointer event handling, skins, resource files, menu’s, status pane, navigation pane, title pane, context pane, view switching, lists and grids, editors, internationalization and localization, basic drawing, bitmaps and animations, direct screen access and image conversions (scaling, rotating, JPG to bitmap conversions).

The course consists of approximately 50% practical work and 50% lectures. The exercises include quizzes and C++ coding and use the TechView and Series 60 emulator to verify the results.

During the course we will use the Nokia Carbide.c++ OEM v2 IDE environment. Carbide.c++ can be downloaded from Forum Nokia free of charge.

Exercises and course materials are adapted for the Series 60 3rd Edition and 5th Edition SDK emulators. During the course we will use a mixture of Series 60 3rd Edition and Series 60 5th Edition exercises.

Our trainers are ASD certified, have years of experience and have in depth experience as Symbian developers. Our trainers will be able to answer questions on advanced topics or discuss your project requirements too. Either during breaks or in a one-to-one meeting with a consultant.
